This site (teaching.defreez.com) publishes course materials for classes taught by Daniel DeFreez at Southern Oregon University and collects the coursework students submit through it. This page says what the site stores about you and why.
Signing in with Google
You sign in with a Google account. The site asks Google for three things: your account identifier, your email address, and your basic profile (name and picture). It stores those in its own database so it can recognize you on later visits, show your name, and decide which course materials your account may open. Which materials those are depends on the course groups the instructor assigns to your account.
The site does not receive your Google password, does not keep a Google access token, and does not read anything else from your Google account. Use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Coursework and course records
Depending on the course, the site stores work you submit: uploaded assignment files, peer reviews, exercise attempts and the source code in them, and the grades and feedback the instructor records for that work. Course grades are education records and are handled under university policy.
Cookies and local storage
One cookie keeps you signed in for up to thirty days; a second, short-lived cookie exists only while a sign-in is in progress. Your theme choice is kept in your browser's local storage. There are no advertising cookies.
Who else handles the data
The site, its database, and uploaded files all live on a server the instructor operates (hosted at Linode). Google processes your sign-in. Nothing collected here is sold or shared with anyone else.
Retention and deletion
Account and coursework data is kept for the duration of the course and afterwards as needed for course records. To ask what the site holds about you, or to have your account data removed once it is no longer needed for a course record, email defreezd@sou.edu.
